Growth Habit :Erect, annual herb 1-2m high, stems rough to tough and often tinged purple.
Fruiting Season :Burrs contain two seeds, one germinating in the first year, the other waits until a favourable season.
Description :Introduced. Used to be one of Queenslands worst weeds, but both rust and stem galling moth have controlled the spread of the burr since the 1980's.
Distribution :Mainland Australia in disturbed ground on river and creek flats, and roadsides.
Weed Status :Low importance, numbers to be reduced.
