Introduction
Welcome to the natural assets database .. a one stop shop for a number of Townsville initiatives. Whether your interest is bird watching, eco-tourism, re-vegetation, accommodation or what's on you can find the information here.  This resource is a non-profit public education tool developed by Townsville City Council to raise community awareness of the natural environment of Townsville and the wider North Queensland region.

Areas of the Database
There are a number of different ways of accessing the database.  If you would like to know more about aspects of the regional flora and fauna, then go to one of the special interest pages below.

Search Tips
Each special interest area starts with a search screen ...  results are displayed as summary records with a link to detailed information .  Related information is linked at the base of each summary record (i.e. birds (30) lists the 30 bird species observed for that location, habitat, ...)

Keyword searches are best kept simple, for example entering 'kite' in the keyword search field on the "Birds" screen, will return all bird records that contain the word 'kite'.
