Description :Common local species. Length 51cm. Male is smaller. Has a varied colour range, northern populations are often very dark. Has a unsteady hover and awkward flight. Feeds on the ground. Eats birds and mammals. Call is a raucous cackle and screech.
Typical Habitat :Widespread except closed forest.
Distribution :Common Australia wide. Falco berigora berigora is endemic, only recorded in Australia.
Migration :Resident / breeding. Most common during June and July. Main breeding season, August to October.
