Description :Shell 45cm. Brown to dark brown, large adults are black. Young have a serrated rear edge to the shell. Short neck, adults have rounded bumps. Eats aquatic animals, carrion, algae and vegetation. Lays up to 15 eggs, which hatch after 150 days.
Typical Habitat :Rivers and lagoons.
Distribution :Coastal areas from Derby W.A. across the Top End of N.T. and coastal QLD to Marybough, except tip of Cape York.
