Growth Habit :Floating perennial herb growing from a rhizome in the mud of the pond base. With broadly egg-shaped to usually circular dark green leaves, with a split at the base, 20-30cm x 18-30cm and white, blue or purplish-blue flowers.
Fruiting Season :Flowering period. November to July.
Description :The root stock, stalks and seed head can be eaten raw or cooked and the seeds can be made into flour.
Distribution :Northern Australia and down the east coast to north east N.S.W., in freshwater lagoons and billabongs.
