| Description : | Introduced.Rare around Townsville, common in the south. Body 70cm ; Tail 40cm ; Weight 8kg ; Fur reddish-brown above. Nocturnal. Solitary. Eats small mammals, insects, carrion and fruits. Dens are usually enlarged rabbit burrows 15cm in diameter. |
| Typical Habitat : | Desert to urban. Range in the north is dependant on good seasons. Serious predator of endangered species and rabbits. |
| Distribution : | Absent in the far northern mainland and Tasmania. Occasional sightings in cleared patches around Atherton Tablelands and Cooktown. |
