Description :Uncommon local species. Length 21cm. Has a high zigzag flight.
Typical Habitat :Grassland and tidal mud flats.
Distribution :Common to northern areas, patchy distribution towards the south.
Migration :Summer migrant to Australia. Breeds in South Africa, south Europe, India, south east Asia, south China and Japan. Juveniles and some adults may over-winter in Australia.
