Description :Body 30cm. Tail 15cm. Short legs. Grey brown with irregular dark bands on back and tail, with a light blue toungue. Diurnal. Eats fruits, flowers, snails, insects and carrion. Live bearing, up to 25 in a litter.
Typical Habitat :Open forest, woodland, grassland and coastal heaths. Rest in hollow logs and ground litter, ground dwelling.
Distribution :Northern and eastern mainland, except arid interior.
