Description : | Common. Length 30-45cm ; Weight 2-7kg. Body is covered in long spines (quills ), with fur between the spines. Femals lay a single soft shelled egg and have a pouch. Eats ants and termites only. Occasionally falls prey to wild dogs. |
Typical Habitat : | Widespread, where ever there are ants. Seeks shelter under thick bushes, hollow logs, rabbit or wombat burrows. Females will dig burrows for incubating and suckling young. |
