Description :Uncommon local species. Length 56cm. Largest Tern. Has a bright red bill. Often seen with Gull-billed Terns. Dives for prey from 20-40m. Eats fish.
Typical Habitat :Coastal areas, inland waterways and brackish lakes.
Distribution :Moderately common Australia wide.
Migration :Resident / unknown if it breeds locally. Main breeding season, August to March, variable.
