Description :Uncommon local species. Length 23cm. Two populations occur in Australia, one is a summer migrant, the other breeds in northern and eastern Australia.
Typical Habitat :Coastal areas.
Distribution :Endangered. Moderately common to uncommon to northern and east coast.
Migration :Resident / breeding. Main breeding season (non migrant population), August to March, variable. Breeds on mainland beaches and is vulnerable to disturbance from people, dogs and vehicles.
