Description : | Length 2m. Iridescent coal black, snout often light brown. Lower sides are bright red to pink, fading to dull red to pink in middle of belly, northern specimens usually much lighter pink to white belly. Dangerous, venom haemotoxic. |
Typical Habitat : | Eats fish, frogs, snakes and small mammals. Live bearer with up to 12 young. Diurnal snake associated with creeks, swamps and lagoons in rainforest, open forest and pasture. |
Distribution : | Eastern Australia. Patchy distribution in north Queensland. Eastern N.S.W. most of Victoria and along the Murry River in S.A. |
