Description :Uncommon in local area. Length 75cm. Makes a grunting noise. Regularly flies in ' V ' s. Hunts fish by swimming and diving. Lays 1 to 5 eggs on a tree platform or on the ground.
Typical Habitat :Most aquatic habitats.
Distribution :Common Australia wide.
Migration :Resident / breeding. Scattered along the coast, small numbers feed at sea off Shelly Beach and at the mouth of Ross River. Main breeding season, December to June, variable.
