Description :Common local species. Length 55cm. Will try fishing in the most meager creeks. Mainly solitatary birds, doesn’t usually form formations in flight. Appears to be the only Australian cormorant which soars in thermals. Eats fish.
Typical Habitat :Most aquatic habitats.
Distribution :Common Australia wide.
Migration :Resident / breeding. 10-20 perch on the wreck at Cockle Bay at Magnetic Island, Town Common and Barratta Creek near Ayr. Main breeding season, September to April, variable.
