Description : | Abundant. Body 34cm ; Tail 40cm ; Weight 900g. Grey to brown, darker feet. Silent, solitary, nocturnal. Gliding membrane stretches from elbow to ankle. Capable of gliding up to 100m and 90 degree changes of direction. Largest of the gliders. |
Typical Habitat : | Only eats eucalypt leaves, found in a variety of eucalypt habitats, from low open coastal forest, to tall forest in the ranges and low woodland west of the Dividing Range. Avoids pine plantations and regenerated forest which lacks old trees with hollows. |
Distribution : | Rare on the northern coast, more common south of Townsville. It's range is from Mossman to central Victoria. |
