Description :Uncommon local species. Length 36cm. Eats water-lilie seeds and flowers. Tends to dive, unlike the Cotton Pygmy-goose. Male has a distinctive shrill ' pee-whit ' call.
Typical Habitat :Lakes, dams, creeks and shallow, spike rush dominated swamps in the wet season.
Distribution :Common to north and north eastern Australia.
Migration :Resident, during the dry season. Main breeding season, January to March.
