Description :Introduced. Locally common. Body 60cm ; Weight 4kg. Fur fawn to ginger-brown. Manly nocturnal, solitary, non burrower. Eats grass and clovers. Introduced for the sport of Coursing [chased by greyhounds]. Preyed on by foxes, dingos, cats and eagles.
Typical Habitat :Open habitats, inland slopes, tablelands and coastal regions, avioding forest. More associated with modified pastures and cropland.
Distribution :South-east QLD., N.S.W., Vic., S.A. and Tas. Patchy distribution around Townsville, Ayr and Mackay, almost certainly arose from hares that had escaped from Coursing.
