 Accipitridae
Description :Common local species. Length 85cm. Wingspan 220cm. Large sea-eagle. Eats fish, small birds and animals, carrion, sluggish sea-snakes. Will try to take an Osprey's catch. Call is a deep goose-like honking or cackling. Australia's only Haliaeetus species.
Typical Habitat :Rivers, lakes, coastal seas and islands.
Distribution :Moderately common around the coastline and eastern Australia.
Migration :Resident / breeding. More widely spaced along the coast than the Osprey. Main breeding season, May to September.
