Description : | Uncommon local species. Length 50cm. Dives at over 350kph. in order to attack it's prey (pigeon, duck ect.) in flight, also eats insects. Has telescopic vision. Populations have decreased due to agricultural pesticides, which causes egg shell thinning. |
Typical Habitat : | Widespread, especially cliffs and rocky outcrops. |
Distribution : | Common Australia wide. Falco peregrinus macropus is endemic, only recorded in Australia. |
Migration : | Resident / breeding. Breeding pair on Castle Hill. Main breeding season, August to September. |
