Description :Rare to local area. Length 18cm. Call is a high whistle ' titch-u-wip '. Makes a simple ground nest, under bushes or grass, with up to 11 eggs.
Typical Habitat :Open grassland.
Distribution :Common to S.A., VIC., N.S.W., QLD. except Cape York, south east N.T. and south west W.A. Endemic, recorded only in Australia.
Migration :Vagrant / nomadic / non breeding in local area. Main breeding season, October to February.
