Description : | Uncommon local species. Length 45cm. Male is slightly smaller. Flight is buoyant, and hovers around tree canopies. Eats leaf and stick insects, sometimes frogs. Call is a shrill double whistle, rising and falling, with quieter whistles and trills. |
Typical Habitat : | Coastal and subcoastal closed and open forest. Urban trees and parkland. Builds a small nest of twigs, high up in trees. |
Distribution : | Uncommon to northern W.A. and N.T. Eastern Cape York to the Hunter River. Only known to breed in Australia. |
Migration : | Resident, breeding (outer suburbs).Main breeding season, April to July and October to December, varible. |
