Description :Common local species. Length 90cm. Wingspan 1.6m. Feet are only half webbed and have clawed toes. Call is a high picthed honking. Roost in trees. Vegetarian, has become a pest in rice crops.
Typical Habitat :Rush and sedge dominated swamp and flood plains.
Distribution :Common to northern and eastern Australia.
Migration :Resident / breeding (Town Common ). Main breedind season, March to May.
