Description :Common, but rarely seen. Body 8cm ; Tail 8cm ; Weight 13g. Body is grey-brown. World's smallest gliding mammal. Gliding membrane is between the elbows and knees, the feathery tail assists in steering and braking before landing. Nocturnal.
Typical Habitat :Rainforest, eucalypt forest, parks and backyard gardens. Frequently located in tall, mature and moist forest. Feeds on nectar, pollen and insects. Lives in family groups up to a dozen. Spherical nest are made of leaves, bark and tree-fern fibre.
