The FloodSaturday, October 06, 2012 .. to .. Saturday, October 06, 2012
By Patrick White Playwrights' Award Winner Jackie Smith From internationally acclaimed, multi award-winning creators Finucane & Smith comes the haunting and electrifying work hailed as "masterful...an Australian Gothic that defines the genre". The sheep farm is dilapidated. The farm house, dark and squalid, sits by the river, sheltering a mad old lady, and her isolated hard-drinking daughter. Memories are seeping through the floorboards. As the sun sets, the flood waters rise. The screen door bangs open in the rain and wind; Catherine has returned after 20 years. The past is here. Through the mesmerising friction between estranged sisters, fuelled by alcohol and uncertain memories of a long-dead father, three women are trapped with a past no one wants to remember. Bristling with dark humour and edge-of-the-seat performances by three of our finest actresses, The Flood is startlingly authentic writing, plunging audiences into the lives of characters so real you feel you know them; a web of family intrigue against the haunting Australian outback. Cast: Shirley Cattunar, Maude Davey, Caroline Lee. Concession cards accepted for this performance: All Pension Cards, All Seniors Cards, Health Care Cards. Rows BB to A are floor level. First elevated row is Row B.

AmigosWednesday, November 07, 2012 .. to .. Saturday, November 10, 2012
Amigos, A play by David Williamson presented by Townsville Little Theatre in the Pimlico State High School Performing Arts Centre, known as PIMPAC. Amigos is a play about male friendship, but also about a host of other issues, from marriage, to a crisis in masculinity, attitudes towards women, men and institutions, are men oppressed and to the politics of the Olympics. Although serious topics are presented to the audience there is a whole lot of humour, David Williamson style. To sum up it's what happens when mateship and mating collide! At the Mexico Olympics, the four Amigos, an Australian rowing team, won a bronze medal. It was lifetime bonding material but 35 years later, only two of the Amigos keep in touch. Jim is a banker with money expensive house and a young, beautiful wife. It seems he has it all but his friend Dick, a heart surgeon, has something that Jim wants: a sterling reputation. The 2 mates and their wives meet up in Queensland with competing personal agendas. And then Steven, the third Amigo, turns up ready to expose all about their past. A savagely funny play that exposes the subtle aggression and unacknowledged dependencies of male friendship - and the angst and irritation created for the wives on the friendship's sidelines
