In 1965 photojournalist Tim Page was with the Australian troops in Vietnam when they landed in Biên Hòa. Like many of those he photographed, Page was barely out of his teens, and filled with the bravado of youth. Armed with a bag of film and his camera Page captured some of the most iconic images of the Vietnam War before he was gravely injured and sent to the US to recuperate.

Diggers in the Nam includes a selection of 20 silver gelatin prints, which have been printed as a limited edition box set by Chris Reid of Blanco Negro, one of the last master printers in Australia. The exhibition is presented to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the deployment of the first Australian battlegroup to Vietnam.

During Term 1 2015, students from Northern Beaches State High School worked with local photographer, John De Rooy, to explore the art of photography, via the capture of portraits and landscapes, as well as through photo editing processes. Students gained an understanding of image exposure using three manual camera controls; aperture, shutter speed and ISO. They also learned how to change composition and perspective of an image through lens selection, camera position and focus.

The students had the pleasure of working with John De Rooy on a school camp in Bluewater which provided an ideal natural backdrop for artistic inspiration. They were then taught the post-production processing skills required to prepare their image files for print, as well as the importance of proper paper selection for the final print outcome.

This exhibition forms part of the Artist-In-Schools program, which connects the Townsville region’s high school students with local artists and is delivered as part of the Galleries Creative Classrooms initiative.

Based on J.M. Barrie's classic tale, Peter Pan the musical whisks you away to a place where dreams are born and no one ever grows up! Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick Tinkerbell visit the nursery of the Darling children late one night and with a sprinkle of pixie dust begin a magical journey across the stars that no one will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime the travellers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a fierce Indian tribe, a band of bungling pirates, and of course the villainous Captain Hook.

Peter Pan is one of the most beloved and frequently performed family favourites of all time.
